{"id":610,"date":"2020-10-13T16:51:31","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T23:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centermaghribstudies.org\/?p=610"},"modified":"2020-10-13T16:51:31","modified_gmt":"2020-10-13T23:51:31","slug":"a-statement-in-support-of-racial-justice-and-equality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centermaghribstudies.org\/fr\/a-statement-in-support-of-racial-justice-and-equality\/","title":{"rendered":"A statement in support of racial justice and equality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Center for Maghrib Studies (CMS) opposes unequivocally all forms of discrimination and actively supports racial equal<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ity and social justice.\u00a0 As academics and members of CMS, we stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. CMS condemns police brutality and the senseless killing of Black citizens, like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elijah McClain, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, and countless others who continue to go unnamed, unknown, and forgotten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While not a new phenomenon, the rise in global and national media attention showcasing the senseless murders <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Black, Indigenous and People of Color is indicative of a broken inequitable system. A system designed to benefit from the labor of minorities, but does not stand by the call for dignity and justice for all the people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As civil rights protests erupt worldwide, we want to make clear that in no uncertain terms, that we support the end of institutionalized racism and disenfranchisement in the United States and the rest of the world.
